T'challa vs Killmonger Round 5

Story: Back to Africa (Hudlin, vol 4)

Background: Killmonger returns from the dead to take over and lead Niganda. He initially had the help of the US government but when they lost control over him, they sent Captain Marvel/Pulsar/Photon/Spectrum Monica Rambeau end to neutralize him.

That failed and she was captured. He captured both her and Shuri. Wakanda plans to invade and T'challa plans to fight Killmonger once again. He offers him a chance to surrender... Eric does not.

One of the Dora's tries to intervene... and was shot for it by an enemy sniper.

At this point in the story, Monica finally breaks out of her containment bubbles and destroys all of Killmonger's force fields.

Before Killmonger can strike....

T'challa's son vows revenge and a clan of female's takes Killmonger's body.

This is the last we have seen of Killmonger in the BP mythos. This is once again an instance were T'challa was distracted, took a shot for it, was about to be killed, and was saved by someone else. That seems to be Killmonger's claim to fame.

Comic Black Panther vs Troll? by SpiderGuile

The Cast Expands for the Black Panther Movie

At the New York comicon last week, Marvel Studios announced some more casting additions for Black Panther. And holy moly, Priest's run is coming to life with a dash of... Coates?

Forest Whitaker: Zuri

- This is surprising. Zuri is best known for being a monster of a man, epic warrior, friend of Thor, and also comic relief due to his shenanigans. But Forest got talent so I'll take it

Daniel Kaluuya: W'kabi

- The question becomes, will he have a bionic arm?

Florence Kasumba: Ayo

- She played the Dora in Civil War but she has now been given an official name. This brings our Dora count to 3 and I would expect Aneka to be announced at some point as well.

Winston Duke: M'baku

- This was known before comicon. The question becomes... how "apey" will he be, is he working with Killmonger or being set up for a future movie?

Right now, this cast is stellar and LARGE. Paralleling the Thor franchise a lot. There is at least one huge announcement we need (Ramonda) but there are other possibilities out there as well, such as S'yan, Taku, QDJ, Hunter... as well as confirmation of Klaw being in the movie and whether or not any previous heroes will show up (Bucky?)

T'challa vs Killmonger Round 4

Story: Priest #19-21

Background: Killmonger is alive once more! After various schemes (such as crashing the world economy), Killmonger and T'challa first meet at the Resurrection Altar. With the help of Dr. Voodoo, Killmonger and his undead army were subdued. However, due to tribal honor, T'challa and Killmonger must fight, man-to-man, in an epic Tribal Challenge

Voodoo explains in #21 how Killmonger was back from the dead... again.

Now that he is back, it is time for fisticuffs...

At Warrior Falls, the sight of the first brawl between T'challa and Killmonger (Round 1), the Tribal Challenge begins

Distracted by idiot Ross and useless Lynne, T'challa lets his guard down and takes a seemingly fatal strike to the chest...

Of course, T'challa was not gone. With the help of Dr. Voodoo and Moon Knight, he was brought back from the brink of death. However, he was just king... Killmonger was Black Panther.

Unfortunately for Killmonger, his reign as the Black Panther was not long. Soon afterwards, he undertook the Right of Ascension, gobbled up the Heart Shaped Herb... and was put into a coma from it. T'challa was then the default Black Panther once again.

T'challa vs Killmonger Round 3

Story: Over the Edge #6 (1996)

Background: T'challa is in New York to see to the extradition of Klaw to Wakandan custody. During the hearing, Klaw is broken out of custody and T'challa is captured in the mayhem. Klaw was not working alone...

Killmonger then begin his villain monologue. He attaches T'challa to a bomb with a suicide note, he then reveals the kid N'banu is his spy, beats down T'challa's bodyguards, deals with Klaw turning on him (he planned for that), and leaves to take a boat to Wakanda.

T'challa naturally escapes with the help of Daredevil and together they pursue them.

T'challa then sends N'banu to take the vibranium belt to Daredevil to help fight Klaw. In the midst of that fight, Killmonger wakes up.

In the end, Klaw is recaptured and Killmonger is... dead? They don't mention what happens with his body. Definitely should have cremated the dude. He has a habit of coming back from the dead.

In Priest #21, we learned that Killmonger was brought back to life temporarily by Klaw himself and seemingly died after they were defeated. So, that solves that mystery I suppose.

This is a significant and pretty obscure story. In both Priest's (round 4) and Hudlin's (round 5) run, it was stated over and over how T'challa has never and cannot beat Killmonger. But here is on panel proof that not only was the Iron Man Annual story not really Killmonger (its stated it was just a weak copy) but also proof that T'challa has beaten Killmonger at least once in his past. In fact, at this point in there history, he has lost once, won once, and defeated a re-animated corpse.
